Palettenhandling Palmaster The efficient automation of machining centres for small and medium batch sizes is a fascinating and demanding task. With the Palmaster product series, Promot Automation offers a suitable solution for all pallet-handling tasks, from straightforward single-machine automation up to flexible manufacturing systems for several machines.

The whole product series is designed on a modular basis and provides various possibilities of expansion: Wherever possible, the same components are used for all areas.
The software is of special importance for economical use of the flexible manufacturing system. With the Promot-Prosys modulare system, an optimum system configuration can be developed to suit the needs of the particular customer.

The Palmaster product series comprises the following variants:

Palmaster WS	Single machine automation
Palmaster RZ	Robot cells for 1-3 machines
Palmaster RZL	Robot on linear unit
Palmaster L	Linear arrangement, ceiling-mounted swing loader
Palmaster FMS	FMS with fully automated high-rack storage

Palmaster WS. Palmaster WS is designed for the automation of individual machining centres. A pool of pallets circulates on a ring buffer. The machines can be loaded either from the machine front or from the side. Unobstructed access to the inside of the machine is possible thanks to the swing-arm loader arranged at the magazine side.
Palmaster PM-WS stands out in particular by its compact and space-saving design.

	Palmaster RZ. Palmaster RZ is a modular robot cell with buckling-arm robot (Kuka, Fanuc or Motoman). It enables 1 to 3 machines to be automated. Depending on the machine type, loading is performed either from the front or side. When loading from the front, it is also possible to use one machine in the manual mode using a special guarding solution while a second machine in the cell is still loaded/unloaded automatically. The pallets are fed to the system via one or several load-unload stations and stored in racks. The load-unload stations are designed either as single stations with rotating table or as a dual stations (2 pallet locations side by side). The utility value of the cell can be further increased by implementing supplementary stations (deburring, marking, cleaning,..). Thanks to the fully automated gripper change, pallet or workpiece handling is also possible as an option. Palmaster RZL.

Palmaster RZL is the ideal choice for the automation of several machines in linear arrangement integrated into a flexible manufacturing system. A buckling-arm robot traverses along a floor-mounted linear unit. As with the Palmaster PM-RZ, it is possible to combine pallet and workpiece handling and to implement supplementary stations. The machines can be loaded either from the machine front side or from the side. A sophisticated guarding solution provides unobstructed access to the inside the machine.

Palmaster SL.

Palmaster PM-L is modular in design. Its special feature, however, is a ceiling-mounted, linear-traversing swing-arm loader. This provides the advantage of clearance to the floor and thus good access to the machine. Special guarding solutions permit simple access to the machine at all times, also from the machine front side. To reduce the distances to be covered by the personnel, appropriate passages can be integrated.

Palmaster FMS.

Palmaster FMS allows several machines to be integrated into a flexible manufacturing system. The pallets with the fixtures are held in a fully automated high-rack storage. The pallets are handled using a storage and retrieval unit. Palmaster PM-FMS is designed especially for the automation of fixtures with larger weights (e.g. load-unload towers).

Softwaremodule Promot-Prosys.

The "Prosys Basic" module provides all functions required to operate a flexible manufacturing system.
The expansion modules can be implemented either immediately or at any later time.
The core of the "Prosys" system is "Prosys Basic", comprising a comprehensive database for the management of master data for articles, operations, pallets and fixtures.

Workshops

Workshops at Promot.

Specially with small lot sizes and small repetition factor the automation alone is not the only way for economic production. Also organisation, process flow and machines have to be taken into concideration.

Thus Promot Automation offers workshops to discuss all parts of the process line. Specially the experience with our Palmaster-system which is used in our factory is part of the workshop.
